information

free shipping or private meet up

If an item belonging to your loved one is identified through our recovery efforts, we are honored to offer either complimentary shipping or a private in-person meeting for its return.

We understand that these belongings often carry memories far greater than their physical value. Whenever possible, we strive to reunite families with recovered items in a manner that is thoughtful, respectful, and sensitive to the circumstances surrounding their loss.

If you believe an item may belong to your family, please contact us directly. We will work with you privately to determine the most appropriate way to return it home. Text Dondi 580.229.5806 or email fotgproject@gmail.com

Dondi will be available July 5th 10:30a-12:30p

at the Ingram storage facility

Photographs are off site- so please let me know if you’d like me to bring them as well.

privacy & connection

Your privacy matters.

We understand that grief is deeply personal, and not every detail belongs in a public space. This website was created to provide bereaved families with a secure, private place to search for recovered belongings, receive updates, and access information that is not shared publicly.

We also invite direct family members to join the Cypress Circle, a private communication list created specifically for families who have lost loved ones. Through the Cypress Circle, we share updates, resources, opportunities for remembrance, and other information intended only for those walking this particular path.

If you’d like more connection- we offer a private family only facebook group where we share updates in real time.

Our goal is simple: to keep families informed, connected, and supported while honoring the privacy and dignity of those they love.

the REVERENCE quilt

The Reverence Project was created first and foremost to honor those we have lost.

The quilt incorporates recovered textiles generously surrendered by survivors, along with patches representing the first responders, volunteers, organizations, and community members who served during this devastating time. Together, these elements tell the story of a community that endured, grieved, and cared for one another.

At the heart of the quilt, we are hand-stitching the first name of every person lost in the flood—currently 137 individuals. Each name is being embroidered by hand as an act of remembrance, dignity, and love. We chose first names.

We chose first names because they are often the names spoken most tenderly by family and friends—the names called across a room, whispered in prayers, written in birthday cards, and held closest in the hearts of those who love them.

Using first names also allows us to include every loved one in a way that keeps the quilt balanced and cohesive while ensuring each name can be stitched by hand and clearly seen.

Please know that this choice in no way diminishes the fullness of your loved one's identity, life, or story. Each name represents a beloved person who is remembered, honored, and carried forward by this community. If we have not yet contacted your family, we will. It is important to us that families know their loved one is being remembered in this work and that we have the opportunity to connect with you directly. While the quilt is intended to honor all who were lost, we are committed to approaching each family with care, respect, and sensitivity throughout the process.

Our responsibility is not simply to create a quilt, but to create something worthy of the people it remembers.
